Sunday Savers ~ Introduction: Oct. 26th

Are you fan of saving money?
I am!
And that's just one of the many reasons I LOVE TPT!

So in the spirit of saving bundles of cash on my classroom resources, I wanted to start a little something that I thought would help you save money too.

My grandmother loves the Sunday paper because of those
coupon booklets that get shoved in the middle.

Loads of savings, she says.
Sunday Savers, she calls them.

And to keep the tradition going of saving cash on Sunday,
I'm creating my own Sunday Savers.

As much a possible, I'm going to slash the prices of one (...or two) of my products for 24 hours.
I don't know which products I'll choose, but check back on Sundays (I'll do my best to do every Sunday) and see what's on SALE or better yet...FREE!

This week....
I'm cutting the price of the
from $3.00
to $1.00 !
*** This product will return to original price Monday 10/27/14 @ 3pm EST***

Sort, EAT, Count, Eat, Graph, EAT...M&M Math!

Halloween
is just around the corner and this year, I'm SOOO happy it falls on a FRIDAY!
Can I get an AMEN?!

The day after Halloween is always a candy-como conundrum for me.
What do I do with these sleep-deprived, sugar overdosed "zombies"?

This year, teachers around the nation WON'T have that problem!
Woot-woot!

But, let's be real, Halloween on a Friday is a recipe for craziness!
Hyped friends wanting to talk about candy and costumes.
I've tried combating craziness with candy and it works, people!
This is my answer to the question
"How in the world am I going to get those sweeties to stay focused during math?"
{Click on image to purchase or go here}

This fun pack
only requires candy-crazed kiddos (PreK-2nd) and a FUN size bag of M&M's.

I always start with reading
BEFORE I pass out the chocolately goodness.
This just helps me work in a bit of literacy to my math time, but still
keeps the anticipation high!

For my particular class (last year), we focused on
1.) color identification: they read color words before using crayons to color,
2.) sorting: opened up bag and sorted M&Ms into colored circles,
3.) counting: counted each M&M in each colored circle,
4.) graphing: using M&M Sort page, they filled in M&M Math graph
(Color & Sort)
(Fill in graph using M&M Sort information)
(Touch counting to insure accuracy)
* Her Orange looks Brown, but it's Orange.*
(#Cameralightingstinks)

Not going to lie, we "lost" a few M&M's in the process.
Some fell on the floor, others were eaten by inpatient pals.

After we discussed our individual graph results, each friend went on
to make patterns using these fun sheets.

And then I FINALLY gave in to their requests to have "just ONE!" and let
those lovies eat their first treats of Halloween!

And boy was it worth it...
happy kids and math instruction/time block complete!
I'll consider that a success.

Math M&M Monster Pack includes:
(purchase here)
M&M Sort: Color and Sort
M&M Math: Graph (create and read)
Monsters Want More: Graph analysis, Writing Numerals, Comparing Values, and Color Words
(2) Add the M&M’s: Sort, Count, Write Numerals, Color Words, and Addition
M&M’s Patterns: Create and Color Patterns (AB, AAB, AABB, and ABC)
Monster M&M Match game: Ten frame (1-30) and Number Identification (1-30)

I would have LOVED to work in this fun game, but we ran out of time.

Here's to a candy-crazed Halloween and restful weekend for you since those sweet babes have 2 whole days to get the candy out of their system before you have to teach/manage!

5 for Friday [Oct. 17]

This week was such a breath of fresh air...
I was able to bake, take my small guy to the Children's Museum with neighborhood friends, shop for and sell clothes. That's all on top of finishing up a couple of products for my TPT store all in preparation for Halloween!
* Come back this weekend to see these products detailed and listed on TPT!
Ultimate Death by Chocolate Brownie Cake
Really, the title itself makes me want to dive face first into this mound of deliciousness! I started the week off right by snooping around on my Pinterest food wall and finding this gem. My photo might not do it the justice it truly deserves, so go check out the Baby Gizmo blog recipe.

And since I was already at it, I whipped this yummy batch up too. It made a TON, so the neighbors were "gifted" some.  Check out the recipe on Your Cup of Cake's blog

 Two Boos!
Does your neighborhood participate in the Boo-ing fun? Two of my previous schools did, but I've never lived in a neighborhood that has. Until now...
Yes, I didn't get my sign up fast enough and got double Boo-ed in the same night. So, I had to double Boo to keep the fun going. What are some things you like to include in your Boo treats?
Time to Purge
Over the past few weeks, I've been purging the closets for a BIG women's consignment sale that is occurring here in my town this week(end).
I was able to pre-shop the sale last night (since I contributed as a consigner) and although I didn't refill my closest, I definitely am not going to make any money. And that's A-Okay with me!
If you don't like the idea of physically going to a consignment sale, but LOVE bargains, you should try ThredUp
Online consignment that makes bargain shopping a breeze...you ship them your old stuff, in a bag they provide, and shop from the comfort of your own couch!
Did you know that this week is 1/2 off Week at my TPT store
(for these 3 products)
Quite a few teachers have already snagged these BIG packs for 1/2 the price, but the sale is on until TOMORROW night (Oct. 18th). Go here to learn more or here to grab them before they return to full price.

Enjoy your weekend!

5 for FrIdAy [Oct. 10th]

This is my very FIRST "five for FRIDAY" linky post...
I'm pretty pumped about getting in on this action.

Have you entered my Apple Pickin' Giveaway?
If you haven't, you SHOULD!
A FREE chance to win a $10 gift certificate to TPT AND a $10 iTunes gift card!
Do I need to say more?
Click on the picture for the detailed post!

My sweet boy is growing...
achy knees and tight shoes tell me a growth spurt is happening.
We ordered him new sneakers and these studly things came in the mail.
He picked out the color...loves him some Georgia Bulldawgs!!!
And his uncle has a matching pair so I'm sure that had something
to do with it!

Have you read my About Me section?
If not, I'll introduce you to my reclusive cat.
She's strictly an indoor companion for our family.
Well, she decided to have a 48 hour jaunt around our neighborhood
this past week...
she didn't even leave a note!
Finally picked her up in the neighbor's front yard earlier today and now she's grounded!

Friday Date Day with my man included lunch at this gem:
I'm a sucker for their Avocado Egg Rolls!
(borrowed from their website)

Just finished up my latest product and getting ready to run it
through the wash.
Here's a sneak-peak:
Fingers crossed that I can get this ironed out this weekend...
Monday at the latest.

Okay, that was pretty easy to do.
I think I'll come back next week to do another.
Hope y'all had a wonderful week & enjoy the long weekend
(for those of you who have Monday off).

Apple Pickin' GIVEAWAY

I got a pretty neat opportunity early last week.
I was able to volunteer as a chaperone for my son's very FIRST field trip.
It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but I really thought I would NEVER have the chance to accompany him since I would be teaching my own students.

Here are a few moments I was able to capture of my
very own "Johnny Appleseed"

I should have taken a picture of my own pants
(dirty footprints on upper thighs) to show
you how he achieved reaching this apple.
 This little fella loves apples!
One of his most favorite snacks!

Each friend was able to sign his/her name to a large portion of the barn to commemorate their visit to the orchard. Such a cute way to say "I was here".

This year away from my own classroom has proven to be such a blessing to me as a mother!
Being able to share this experience with my little guy was more important to me than I had previously thought.

And to celebrate this blessing, I'm going to pass
it on to one lucky follower
Two companies that LOVE apples just as much as my little man...
$10 TPT gift certificate
AND
$10 Apple iTunes gift card
